KILLING THEM SOFTLY - ANDREW DOMINIK: So great. Go watch it. It’s a crime movie that has not-so-subtle social commentary. What’s great about the movie is the approach to show vs. tell. This is not a cookie-cutter thriller by any means. The narrative is invested in the personalities surrounding a protected poker game heist. It is not about what happens to everyone involved as much as how it happens and who becomes involved. Fascinating to watch the narrative become engrossed in characters that would have only a few lines or not exist at all in other films. Andrew Dominik’s career keeps getting stronger.
